Moped-style e-bike: your questions

Is it a moped?
No. It has the moped look and rider kit, but legally it is an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC). You pedal, and the motor assists up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h) before it cuts out.
Do I need a licence, insurance or CBT?
No. There is no licence, road tax, compulsory insurance, MOT or CBT for an EAPC. Riders must be 14 or over. Our UK e-bike law guide has the detail.
Where can I ride it?
On roads and in cycle lanes, as you would on a pedal cycle. Not on pavements.
How fast does it go?
The motor assists up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h) and then cuts out. You can pedal faster than that on your own.
Can I carry things on it?
Choose a kit with storage: the Tourer has a 22 L pod, the Explorer a 52 L lockable pod and the Cargo a 108 L box. A rear carrier and pod can be added to a Classic later.
