Case studies

The bike is not usually the constraint.
The driver is.

Most fleet operators we talk to are not short of opportunity, they are short of people who can get the job done.

CBTs and driving licence requirements narrow down your talent pool — the Eskuta SX-250 eBike expands it.

In law, an Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) is simply a pedal cycle. There is no licence to hold, no CBT to book and no test to pass — so the pool you are hiring from stops being people who drive and becomes, simply, people. Your fleet team will not be required to hold a CBT, so your talent pool just got bigger.

  • No CBT or driving licence required
  • Immediate onboarding for new starters
  • Two hours from induction to competent — an hour in a room, an hour on the bike
  • Flexible deployment across 100% of the fleet team
  • Removes the congestion issues faced by other mobility options
  • Fully managed 2-year lease plan, including servicing and insurance
  • Your operational hours protected, thanks to our specialised rider onboarding training and bespoke management system

In a city, the journey is what costs you

Whether your teams walk, drive, take the bus or run a van, an urban round is the same shape: short distances, long days and a lot of standing still. Almost everything that carries a cost — hours, fuel, fares, parking — is charged by the mile, by the day or by the hour, and none of it is doing any work while the round waits.

Electricity per mile is our own figure: a full charge costs about 17p off-peak and returns 40–50 miles. Your van costs are yours — we have not guessed them.

We work alongside a compliance advisor to government and to the Bicycle Association, and we are members of LEVA-EU, the Association of Cycle Traders, the MCIA, the British Parking Association and the Bicycle Association. Councils, the NHS, national enforcement operators and national food brands all run these bikes.

Would this work for your operation? Fifteen minutes is usually enough to know. We’ll look at your routes, not your budget.

The order you deliver yourself
is the one you keep the margin on

Most local orders sit inside two or three miles. Every one handed to a platform carries a commission; every one you deliver yourself does not. On a busy site that difference compounds faster than the cost of the bike — and it is the number most operators have never actually added up.

  • Commission on the short radius stops being someone else’s revenue
  • Your rider at the door, your service standard, your customer afterwards
  • A late order becomes a call you can answer, not a ticket you raise
  • A branded bike works your catchment all day, bought once
Who it is for

Urban mobility that works harder

The SX-250 is built for organisations whose people spend the day moving between jobs, sites and appointments. Faster journeys, easier parking and low running costs mean more time spent working and less time lost getting there — and as a pedal cycle it supports sustainability targets without a licence, road tax or compulsory vehicle insurance.

Traffic enforcement officers

Keep officers moving, visible and productive throughout the day. The SX-250 makes it easier to cover larger patrol areas, respond quickly to issues and stop exactly where the job needs to be done — maximising enforcement activity while reducing operating costs.

Domiciliary care staff

Every minute matters in care. The SX-250 helps carers spend less time travelling between visits and more time supporting people. Easy access, simple parking and licence-free operation also make it easier to recruit and deploy staff across urban areas.

Last-mile courier delivery

When deliveries depend on speed and reliability, urban mobility matters. The SX-250 helps riders navigate congested streets, complete more drops in a shift and keep operating costs low — improving both efficiency and profitability.

And it is provable at the roadside

Illegal and modified e-bikes have made enforcement a live issue, and an officer who is unsure will stop the rider. That is your order, late, and your rider standing on a pavement.

Police education. We help forces recognise what a compliant EAPC looks like. Fewer roadside conversations, and shorter ones. See the Declaration of Conformity.

And it answers the net-zero question

Councils, NHS trusts and enforcement operators all have to evidence fleet emissions now, and “we bought some e-bikes” is not evidence. So here is the arithmetic with every input shown — the same way we did the running costs above — because you are the one who has to defend it.

Transport accounts for roughly a fifth of global CO₂ emissions. Every round you move off four wheels comes straight off your fleet’s number.

ZeroTailpipe emissions — and no exhaust, and no engine noise, in the street you are delivering on
19.4 WhElectricity per kilometre: about 1.4 kWh off the meter over a 72 km charge
3.9 gCO₂e per kilometre at UK grid intensity, against roughly 199 g for a 38 mpg diesel van
WarwickshireAssembled in the UK and delivered ready to ride, not flat-packed for you to unbox

Our own figures, and the inputs are all here so you can check them: 48 V × 26 Ah is 1,248 Wh stored, and about 1.4 kWh off the meter once charging losses are counted; 45 miles is 72 km; grid intensity taken at 200 g CO₂e/kWh and diesel at 2.68 kg CO₂ per litre — both move every year, so check them against the current DEFRA conversion factors before you put them in a return. This is energy in use, not manufacture. Building a battery and a motor costs more than building a bicycle, and we would rather say so than leave it out; what pays it back is mileage, and these are ridden every working day.

What does the round actually cost you?

Put in your own mileage, fuel price and insurance and the calculator works out what the same round costs on SX-250s. Every figure is one you can change — ours as well as yours.

Your own eBike Champion

Most call-outs are a mirror, an indicator or a brake lever. Waiting for an engineer to fit one costs you a day of riding and a call-out fee, for a job that takes five minutes and a screwdriver.

So we would rather train someone at your site to do it. One nominated person, a small shelf of the parts that actually break, and one of our engineers on a video call when they are unsure. The framework, the training and the remote support come with the lease.

  • One nominated Champion per site, trained by us
  • An Eskuta engineer on video, in real time, when they need one
  • Parts on the shelf: mirrors, indicators, tyres, pedals, brake levers
  • Replenished as they are used, so the shelf is stocked before it is needed
  • Video tutorials and step-by-step guides, not a PDF nobody opens
  • Included in the lease — not a bolt-on
