The Eskuta SX-250 and SX-800 — built for delivery riders who treat this as a profession. Motorcycle-grade build. Moped-style toughness. Bicycle running costs.

SX-250
The workhorse. EAPC-certified, cycle lane access, and anyone can ride it from day one. Motorcycle-grade build at bicycle running costs.
SX-800
Maximum speed. More deliveries per hour. For riders who already hold a CBT or full licence and want 29mph assist.
Renting costs you
more every year.
Rental costs £39/week — £2,028 per year — and you never own the bike. Buying an Eskuta SX-250 costs roughly the same in year one, but from year two onwards the running costs drop to ~£650/yr.
- £39/week forever — you never own the bike
- Costs rise if the platform changes rental rates
- No asset at the end of the contract
- Not claimable as a capital business expense
- Pay once — own it outright from day one
- Year 2 costs drop to ~£650/yr maintenance only
- Claim as a capital allowance on Self Assessment
- Finance from 0% APR — from £122/month
Every detail designed for professional delivery.
No licence required
The SX-250 is EAPC-certified — legally a bicycle. No CBT, no registration, no insurance. Ride it from day one.
Cycle & bus lane access
As an EAPC, the SX-250 has full access to cycle lanes and bus lanes — avoiding the traffic your competitors are stuck in.
Motorcycle-grade brakes
CBS disc brakes front and rear. Designed for the stop-start demands of urban delivery, not just weekend rides.
Reinforced tubeless tyres
18" reinforced tubeless tyres dramatically reduce puncture risk — the most common cause of on-shift breakdowns.
Optional 106L cargo box
The Cargo variant adds a 106-litre rear box — large enough for most delivery orders and lockable between drops.
Tax-deductible purchase
As a self-employed rider, the bike is a legitimate business expense. Claim HMRC mileage allowance or as a capital allowance.
Your questions, answered.
-
No. The Eskuta SX-250 is EAPC-certified (250W, 15.5mph assist), which legally classifies it as a bicycle in the UK. No driving licence, no insurance, no road tax, and no DVLA registration required. Anyone aged 14+ can ride it, including in cycle lanes. It is fully legal for delivery work on all UK platforms.
-
Yes. As a self-employed delivery rider, an e-bike purchased for work is a legitimate business expense. You can either claim HMRC's bicycle mileage allowance (20p per mile) or claim the purchase cost as a capital allowance via your Self Assessment tax return. A rider covering 10,000 miles/year generates a £2,000 tax deduction at the mileage rate alone.
-
Yes. The SX-800 is classified as an L1e motor vehicle (29mph, 800W). It requires a CBT moped certificate (or Category A licence issued before February 2001), DVLA registration, third-party insurance, and an MOT after 3 years. It cannot use cycle lanes. Road tax is free.
-
The SX-250 offers 40–50 miles per charge. For delivery riders doing 25–40 miles per shift, a full charge typically covers a complete shift. Heavier loads, colder weather, or stop-start urban riding can reduce range — budget for a mid-shift top-up on 8+ hour shifts.
-
Rental costs £39/week (£2,028/year) and you never own the bike. Buying an Eskuta SX-250 at £2,195 costs roughly the same in year one — but from year two onwards you own the asset and pay only maintenance (~£650/year). Over 3 years, owning saves approximately £2,500–£3,000 compared to renting.
-
The SX-250 is fully compliant for use on Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Just Eat, Stuart, Gophr and all other UK delivery platforms as an EAPC bicycle. The SX-800 is also platform-compliant as a registered motor vehicle, provided you have the required CBT and insurance. Eskuta has official partnerships with Just Eat and Domino's Pizza.
-
Yes — if you have an employer. The SX-250 is EAPC-certified and eligible for Cycle to Work schemes including Cycle2Work by Halfords and the Green Commute Initiative. However, the scheme requires an employer — self-employed riders are not eligible unless working through a limited company that participates.

The Eskuta comes with a 12-month warranty (or up to 8,000 miles). Extended warranty and maintenance contracts are available at purchase. The reinforced tubeless tyres significantly reduce puncture risk — the most common cause of on-shift breakdowns. We recommend carrying a CO2 inflator and spare inner tube on long shifts.
-
The SX-250 weighs 53kg. This is heavier than a standard e-bike because it's built to moped-grade construction standards — a heavier, more durable frame, motorcycle-grade brakes, suspension, and full lighting. The weight is a trade-off for the durability needed for professional daily delivery use.
-
Yes. Finance is available from 0% APR, with monthly payments starting from £122/month. An initial eligibility check uses a soft credit search that does not affect your credit score. The bike can also be claimed as a business capital allowance if purchased outright.
